CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: stmmac: make sure that ptp_rate is not 0 before configuring timestamping
The stmmac platform drivers that do not open-code the clk_ptp_rate value
after having retrieved the default one from the device-tree can end up
with 0 in clk_ptp_rate (as clk_get_rate can return 0). It will
eventually propagate up to PTP initialization when bringing up the
interface, leading to a divide by 0:
Division by zero in kernel.

Prevent this division by 0 by adding an explicit check and error log
about the actual issue. While at it, remove the same check from
stmmac_ptp_register, which then becomes duplicate |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: stmmac: make sure that ptp_rate is not 0 before configuring EST
If the ptp_rate recorded earlier in the driver happens to be 0, this
bogus value will propagate up to EST configuration, where it will
trigger a division by 0.
Prevent this division by 0 by adding the corresponding check and error
code. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
libnvdimm/labels: Fix divide error in nd_label_data_init()
If a faulty CXL memory device returns a broken zero LSA size in its
memory device information (Identify Memory Device (Opcode 4000h), CXL
spec. 3.1, 8.2.9.9.1.1), a divide error occurs in the libnvdimm
driver:
Oops: divide error: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP NOPTI
RIP: 0010:nd_label_data_init+0x10e/0x800 [libnvdimm]
Code and flow:
1) CXL Command 4000h returns LSA size = 0
2) config_size is assigned to zero LSA size (CXL pmem driver):
drivers/cxl/pmem.c: .config_size = mds->lsa_size,
3) max_xfer is set to zero (nvdimm driver):
drivers/nvdimm/label.c: max_xfer = min_t(size_t, ndd->nsarea.max_xfer, config_size);
4) A subsequent DIV_ROUND_UP() causes a division by zero:
drivers/nvdimm/label.c: /* Make our initial read size a multiple of max_xfer size */
drivers/nvdimm/label.c: read_size = min(DIV_ROUND_UP(read_size, max_xfer) * max_xfer,
drivers/nvdimm/label.c- config_size);
Fix this by checking the config size parameter by extending an
existing check. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
dm-integrity: Avoid divide by zero in table status in Inline mode
In Inline mode, the journal is unused, and journal_sectors is zero.
Calculating the journal watermark requires dividing by journal_sectors,
which should be done only if the journal is configured.
Otherwise, a simple table query (dmsetup table) can cause OOPS.
This bug did not show on some systems, perhaps only due to
compiler optimization.
On my 32-bit testing machine, this reliably crashes with the following:
: Oops: divide error: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP
: CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 2450 Comm: dmsetup Not tainted 6.14.0-rc2+ #959

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mm/damon/core: error damos_commit_quota_goal() for zero target_value
Patch series "mm/damon: move zero damos quota target_value handling to the
core layer".
Having zero DAMOS quota target value can cause division by zero. DAMON
API callers are checking the target value parameters to avoid that. It is
easy to make mistakes in some of the multiple API callers. Move that to
the core layer.
Patch 1 adds the corner case handling into the core layer DAMON parameters
validation logic. Patches 2 and 3 remove no more needed DAMON API callers
side handling of the corner case in DAMON_LRU_SORT and DMON_SAMPLIE_MTIER,
respectively.
This patch (of 3):
If a DAMOS scheme has a damos_quota_goal of zero target_value,
damos_quota_goal() could trigger division-by-zero error. Hence each DAMON
API callers should do the zero target_value validation. It is easy to
make mistakes. Actually such bugs in DAMON_LRU_SORT and
DAMON_SAMPLE_MTIER were found and fixed [1].
It is better to handle the corner case only once in the core layer,
instead of multiple places in all DAMON API callers. One straightforward
option is using an alternative denominator for the corner case in the
damos_quota_goal(). However, the zero target_value is meaningless. In
this case, the quota goal is always evaluated as achieved or
over-achieved. The quota will only keep being reduced.
Simply avoid using zero target_value by adding a check in the core layer
DAMOS quota goal parameters validation/commit path,
damos_commit_quota_goal(). Update it to return an error in the case.
Also update its caller to propagate the error. |
| FreeRDP before 3.32.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the RDPGFX ALPHA WIRETOSURFACE_2 handler that fails to validate zero surface dimensions. A malicious RDP server can send a crafted WIRETOSURFACE_2 PDU with zero width and height, triggering an assertion or division by zero that terminates the client session. |
| NVIDIA nvJPEG contains a vulnerability where an attacker could cause a divide-by-zero. A successful exploit of this vulnerability might lead to denial of service. |
| A divide-by-zero error exists in the SeekIndex function of demux/asf/asf.c in VideoLAN VLC media player 3.0.7.1. As a result, an FPE can be triggered via a crafted WMV file. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: chemical: scd30: fix division by zero in write_raw
Add a zero check for val2 before using it as a divisor when setting the
sampling frequency. A user writing a zero fractional part to the
sampling_frequency sysfs attribute triggers a division by zero in the
kernel. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: gyro: adis16260: fix division by zero in write_raw
Add a validation check for the sampling frequency value before using it
as a divisor. A user writing zero to the sampling_frequency sysfs
attribute triggers a division by zero in the kernel. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: adc: nxp-sar-adc: fix division by zero in write_raw
Add a validation check for the sampling frequency value before using it
as a divisor. A user writing zero or a negative value to the
sampling_frequency sysfs attribute triggers a division by zero in the
kernel.
Also prevent unsigned integer underflow when the computed cycle count is
smaller than NXP_SAR_ADC_CONV_TIME, which would wrap the u32 inpsamp to
a huge value. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipv4: avoid divide by zero in fib_rebalance
fib_rebalance() computes the total eligible nexthop weight in one pass
and programs upper bounds in a second pass. A concurrent change to
ignore_routes_with_linkdown can make the first pass return zero while
the second pass sees an eligible nexthop, resulting in division by zero.
If the first pass reports a zero total, set each nexthop upper bound to
-1 and skip the division. This matches the IPv6 fix in commit
d2c26c2911dd ("ipv6: avoid divide by zero in rt6_multipath_rebalance")
and preserves the lock-free rebalance path. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mtd: block2mtd: Fix divide error when erase_size is zero
The erase size is parsed from the "block2mtd" module parameter and can
be set to zero. add_device() then evaluates
if (size % erase_size)
with a zero divisor, which triggers a divide error:

reports the invalid argument and frees the device. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: adc: stm32-adc: fix possible division by zero in processed channel
In case the conversion has failed or returned zero, processing *val
can lead to a division by zero. Need to check for errors, or converted
value is zero, before processing the data. In case the converted value
is zero, e.g. the Vrefint channel, this should be considered as invalid
in all cases. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
watchdog: rtd119x: Avoid division by zero
clk_get_rate() could return 0. Avoid a division by zero panic. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
SUNRPC: svcauth_gss: enforce krb5 token minimum length
svcauth_gss_unwrap_priv() validates only an upper bound on the
wire-supplied opaque length before handing the buffer to
gss_unwrap():
if (len > xdr_stream_remaining(xdr))
goto unwrap_failed;
offset = xdr_stream_pos(xdr);
...
maj_stat = gss_unwrap(ctx, offset, offset + len, buf);
The wire value `len` flows unchanged as the upper bound into the
krb5 unwrap path, so a len in [0, 16] passes this check and is
handed to gss_unwrap(). For a krb5 v2 context that lands in
gss_krb5_unwrap_v2(), which reads the 16-byte RFC 4121 token
header fields at ptr+4 and ptr+6 and then calls rotate_left()
before any integrity check. With a sub-header length the header
reads run past the token, and _rotate_left()'s `shift %= buf->len`
path can divide by zero when buf->len has been driven to zero by
the truncated token. A header-only token (len == 16) is equally
invalid: with a non-zero RRC field and the opaque blob ending at
the XDR buffer boundary, rotate_left() builds a zero-length
subbuffer, reaching the same division.
Reject the token at the server entry point before it reaches the
krb5 unwrap core. A valid sealed RFC 4121 token must contain
the 16-byte header plus at least some encrypted payload.
Fix by adding a minimum-length check immediately after the
existing upper-bound check:
if (len <= GSS_KRB5_TOK_HDR_LEN)
goto unwrap_failed; |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tcp: clamp route advmss to TCP_MIN_MSS
tcp_select_initial_window() assumes that callers never pass an MSS
smaller than 1, but route-derived advmss values can violate that
assumption.
A too-small explicit RTAX_ADVMSS is one way to get there, but it is not
the only one. The same divide-by-zero can also be reached through the
"default advmss" path when RTAX_ADVMSS is left at 0 and the effective
advmss is later driven down by route MTU and min_adv_mss.
Introduce a tcp_dst_advmss() helper that clamps route advmss to
TCP_MIN_MSS before TCP consumes it, and use it in the TCP paths that
derive advmss from dst metrics. This keeps the effective MSS from
dropping to zero before tcp_select_initial_window() rounds the receive
window. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
spi: hisi-kunpeng: Add verification for the max_frequency provided by the firmware
If the value of max_speed_hz is 0, it may cause a division by zero
error in hisi_calc_effective_speed().
The value of max_speed_hz is provided by firmware.
Firmware is generally considered as a trusted domain. However, as
division by zero errors can cause system failure, for defense measure,
the value of max_speed is validated here. So 0 is regarded as invalid
and an error code is returned. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Bluetooth: L2CAP: Fix div-by-zero in l2cap_le_flowctl_init()
l2cap_le_flowctl_init() can cause both div-by-zero and an integer
overflow since hdev->le_mtu may not fall in the valid range.
Move MTU from hci_dev to hci_conn to validate MTU and stop the connection
process earlier if MTU is invalid.
Also, add a missing validation in read_buffer_size() and make it return
an error value if the validation fails.
Now hci_conn_add() returns ERR_PTR() as it can fail due to the both a
kzalloc failure and invalid MTU value.
