CVSS v3.1 |
| In all versions of PyTorch's TorchServe, a predictable extraction directory in /tmp lets a local user swap the model handler and run code as the TorchServe service account leading to local privilege escalation. |
| Powerlevel10k before 1.20.19 contains an insecure temporary directory vulnerability in the bundled gitstatus/install script that reuses attacker-creatable directories when mktemp fails. Local attackers can pre-create the predictable gitstatus-install.tmp directory to replace the extracted gitstatusd binary, which then executes with the victim's privileges. |
| Missing integrity verification in the Progress Software Fiddler Download and Setup Skill on Linux, macOS, and Windows which allows an attacker to compromise or influence a release component and execute attacker-controlled code when a user runs the skill. On macOS, the skill stages the package at a predictable path and installs it with administrator privileges, which may allow code execution with root privileges after user approval. A local process may also replace the staged macOS package while the skill waits for approval. |
| Flatpak creates temporary child repository directories under the user cache with world-writable permissions (0777). On multi-user systems with a permissive umask, other local users could read or modify the temporary directory used while installing apps or runtimes, potentially causing installation failures (denial of service); tampered content would fail signature/digest verification rather than being trusted. |
| Flatpak writes the OCI repository authentication token with world-readable permissions (0644) in the system-helper's cache directory, allowing other local users on a multi-user system to read the token and impersonate the authenticated user against the OCI repository. Only OCI-based sources (e.g. as used by Fedora) are affected; libostree-based sources such as Flathub are not. |
| CallBackery versions before 0.62.0 for Perl leave a world-readable dump of the configuration database in /tmp when taking a configuration backup.
getConfigBlob() has the sqlite3 shell write the dump to /tmp/cbdump<pid> and never removes it. The file takes the process umask, and a symlink planted at that predictable name is followed.
The dump holds every user's password hash and every value saved by the application's forms. A local user can read these after any backup, and may redirect the dump to a file of their choosing. |
| A flaw was found in sblim-cmpi-base. Insecure temporary file creation in the provider registration scripts allows a local unprivileged user to perform a symlink attack. By creating a symlink in a world-writable directory, an attacker can redirect privileged writes to an arbitrary file during script execution in a privileged context. This can lead to the overwrite of root-owned files, potentially disrupting system services or operation. Exploitation is conditional on the script running with elevated privileges and may be mitigated by sticky-directory symlink protections. |
| A flaw was found in sblim-sfcb. A local, low-privileged attacker can exploit a race condition during privileged instance migration by manipulating a temporary file in the `/tmp` directory. By repeatedly recreating a symbolic link, the attacker can redirect privileged output to an arbitrary file. This can lead to privileged file corruption or a denial of service (DoS) on the system. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
libie: don't unroll if fwlog isn't supported
The libie_fwlog_deinit() function can be called during driver unload
even when firmware logging was never properly initialized. This led to call

rtw8822b_set_antenna() can be called from userspace when the chip is

---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- |
| A flaw was found in Podman. In a Containerfile or Podman, data written to RUN --mount=type=bind mounts during the podman build is not discarded. This issue can lead to files created within the container appearing in the temporary build context directory on the host, leaving the created files accessible. |
| A vulnerability was detected in Point B Ltd Getscreen Agent up to 2.19.6/3.9.4 on Windows. This affects an unknown function of the file getscreen.msi of the component MSI Installer. The manipulation results in creation of temporary file with insecure permissions. The attack is only possible with local access. The exploit is now public and may be used. Upgrading to version 3.9.5 mitigates this issue. Upgrading the affected component is advised. |
| A vulnerability has been identified in the Performance Co-Pilot (PCP) package, stemming from the mixed privilege levels utilized by systemd services associated with PCP. While certain services operate within the confines of limited PCP user/group privileges, others are granted full root privileges. This disparity in privilege levels poses a risk when privileged root processes interact with directories or directory trees owned by unprivileged PCP users. Specifically, this vulnerability may lead to the compromise of PCP user isolation and facilitate local PCP-to-root exploits, particularly through symlink attacks. These vulnerabilities underscore the importance of maintaining robust privilege separation mechanisms within PCP to mitigate the potential for unauthorized privilege escalation. |
| GnuPG (version 2.5.21) for Windows contains a vulnerability where default Discretionary Access Control List (DACL) inheritance on the C:\ProgramData directory allows members of the BUILTIN\Users group to create arbitrary subdirectories under this path. An attacker with low-privilege access can create the expected GnuPG configuration directory and inject malicious configuration files consumed by GnuPG components. This can result in code execution within the security context of the victim user. |
| Terragrunt is a flexible orchestration tool that allows Infrastructure as Code written in OpenTofu or Terraform to scale. Prior to 1.1.1, the terragrunt catalog command derives a predictable per-repository catalog clone root under the shared system temporary directory and follows a symlink already placed at that path. A local attacker who can write to the temporary directory and predict the cataloged repository can redirect cleanup and cloning outside the intended root, causing an existing repository-named directory to be deleted and replaced in the victim's security context. The attack requires the victim to run terragrunt catalog on a shared host while the symlink is present, and it is not remotely exploitable. This issue is fixed in version 1.1.1. |
| nnn through 5.3 contains an insecure temporary file vulnerability in the pdfread and nuke plugins that allows local attackers to overwrite files by exploiting predictable paths in /tmp. Attackers can pre-create a symlink at the name-derived or PID-derived path so the victim's plugin truncates and overwrites any file the victim can write. |
| Wasmtime 46.0.0 before 48.0.6 and 49.0.0 before 49.0.3 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows malicious components to panic the host via thread.yield in start functions. Attackers can supply a component whose start function calls an async-lowered import then thread.yield, causing an undisposed fiber drop that crashes embedders. |
| On Unix-like systems, when logging is enabled, psqlODBC creates its log files in /tmp by default, named from the program name, user name, and process ID, with the default permissions, typically world-readable, and follows symbolic links when opening them. A local user can read query text and data from another user's logs, and can place a symbolic link at the predictable path so that the driver appends log data to a file of the attacker's choosing with the victim's privileges. Versions before psqlODBC 18.00.0006 are affected. |
| A temp directory creation vulnerability exists in all versions of Guava, allowing an attacker with access to the machine to potentially access data in a temporary directory created by the Guava API com.google.common.io.Files.createTempDir(). By default, on unix-like systems, the created directory is world-readable (readable by an attacker with access to the system). The method in question has been marked @Deprecated in versions 30.0 and later and should not be used. For Android developers, we recommend choosing a temporary directory API provided by Android, such as context.getCacheDir(). For other Java developers, we recommend migrating to the Java 7 API java.nio.file.Files.createTempDirectory() which explicitly configures permissions of 700, or configuring the Java runtime's java.io.tmpdir system property to point to a location whose permissions are appropriately configured. |
| bubblewrap.c in Bubblewrap before 0.3.3 misuses temporary directories in /tmp as a mount point. In some particular configurations (related to XDG_RUNTIME_DIR), a local attacker may abuse this flaw to prevent other users from executing bubblewrap or potentially execute code. |
